Hydroseeding is a fast, efficient way to establish a thick, healthy lawn. If you’ve ever seen what looks like green “paint” sprayed along a roadside or around a new building, you’ve probably seen hydroseed in action.

Hydro seeding Process
Hydroseeding machines blend together grass seed, water, fertilizer, tackifier (a glue-like binder), and green wood fiber mulch into a slurry. This slurry is then sprayed onto the soil with a high-pressure hose so it can reach all types of terrain, including slopes and hard-to-access areas. As the slurry dries, it forms a protective crust that helps prevent erosion and keeps the seed from washing away in heavy Texas rains or being eaten by birds.

Fast Growing Grass
Because the seed is surrounded by moisture, nutrients and mulch, it germinates quickly and grows strong, deep roots. The seed is spread evenly and held in place, creating consistent coverage instead of patchy growth. In most cases, a hydroseeded lawn in The Woodlands will begin to green up within 1-2 weeks and develop a solid stand of grass in 2-3 weeks under normal conditions.

Hydro seed for existing lawns
Hydroseeding is not just for brand-new lawns. It can also be used to renovate or thicken an existing yard. We can cut the grass short and spray hydroseed directly over your current lawn to fill in bare spots, improve density and create a healthier, more uniform lawn without starting from scratch.

The Benefit

Speed
An area that has been hydroseeded and properly watered will typically start to show growth in about 7 days. Under normal conditions in our area, your new lawn will be well established in 3-4 weeks.

Cost
Purchasing and installing sod can be expensive, especially once labor is included. Hydroseeding usually costs 70%–80% less than sod while still giving you a beautiful, lush lawn.

Health
Hydroseeded grass starts its life in the soil on your property, so there is no transplant shock like you can get with sod grown in different soil conditions. Sod can also dry out during transport or installation. Hydroseeded lawns grow in place, thick and healthy, helping crowd out weeds and resist disease.

Coverage
Hand-seeded lawns can come in thin or patchy, and sodded lawns sometimes show seams. Because hydroseed is sprayed evenly and held in place by the mulch crust, it provides consistent coverage — even on slopes — resulting in a full, uniform lawn.
